I'm not a huge cold desserts fan. Unlike my husband who can eat a pint of ice cream a day, I don't particularly ever crave that. Nor do I crave frozen yogurt...although a friend and I recently tried Yogurtland and it was DELISH. So when Rita's Ice Custard opened up recently by our home, I didn't think much about it at all. Dear hubby, on the other hand, was informed by a colleague on the east cost that that place was "so friggin' awesome" that we should try it ASAP.
Our lazy bones didn't try it out until last week (they've been open since this past summer)...and now I am HOOKED. I've had 4 (!) gelatini's in this past week. Ridiculous goodness I say. What is a gelati? It's their creamy custard layered with their Italian ice then custard on top again. Smoothest Italian ices in the freshest yummiest flavors. Had I known about this before I probably would have been there every week this past summer. Oh man. So good.
Did I mention I've had 4 of these in less than a week? I must stop. But you must try it if you haven't already. http://www.ritasice.com/
Below is a pic of my latest fix that I had last night. Vanilla custard with fresh watermelon Italian ice. Ahhh....
