Okay, he really doesn't have addictions. He's only 10 months old. He does however love him some Kim's Magic Pop. It's a naturally healthy snack made from wheat, brown rice, and corn. I see them making it everyday at our local HEB. One day, while picking up some groceries, I forgot to bring snacks or a toy for B to keep him occupied while shopping. The Magic Pop lady was making some samples so I figure why not let B try it out. I'd seen so many other moms giving it to their little wee ones as well. So I gave him a sample. Three returns to the sample tray later, I just picked up a a bag and put it in our cart.
Turns out this stuff is great! Keeps him pretty occupied while he's waiting for me to warm up his food. I think he enjoys holding onto it as well as the texture and taste. I found it not so bad tasting myself. I accidentally picked up a cheddar flavored bag one time and it reminded me of a healthy Cheeto puff. And I do love me some Cheetos. I digress.
In the beginning I would break these wafers into quarters to give to B. But lately I just give him the whole thing. I think he likes that even more. And it's kind of funny to see him eating something that's as big as his face.
My husband worried that it was becoming a habit to give B these at almost every meal. But each wafer is only 15 calories. No fat, nothing really bad about them at all that I can tell from the nutrition label. And it doesn't seem to spoil B's appetite because he still eats all of his regular meals. But still, DH calls it Crack Pop. Whatevs. It's B's latest addiction and I'm okay with a healthy addiction. At least for now. ;-)
